Raised in Colorado, Woolfolk joined Earth, Wind & Fire in 1972 along with his East High School classmates from Denver, Bailey, and pianist/organist Larry Dunn. He was a vital member of the six-time Grammy-winning funk institution Earth, Wind & Fire playing the saxophone and flute for the group for over three decades.

One of the members of the 1970s band Earth, Wind & Fire has passed away. On Sunday it was posted that the eclectic band's drummer Fred White had died, his brother Verdine shared.

Bailey has been a member of the band since 1972, making him one of the original Earth, Wind, and Fire memebrs to still be performing today. He does vocals, conga, precussion, and kalimba in songs. Born May 8, 1951, He is currently 65 years old. His son, Phillip Bailey Jr. has also been with the band since 2008.
